For example, a pitcher filter will typically hold approximately three gallons or 12 cups worth of water. Faucet filters don't need to be refilled as often and take up less space on your countertop. However, they're not always ideal for larger households with several people who might want filtered water. If you want to filter several gallons of water all at once, go with a pitcher filter instead.

In Summary...

It can be easy to make the mistake of assuming that, because you're getting filtered water from your brita filter, you are replacing all the water you drink. However, with an average filter life span is three months, that would mean you need to replace it twice a year. So even if you have the 28-ounce bottle and use it every day for one month, that's only 168 ounces or 16 cups worth of filtered water. You could also say that on average, a person should consume 2 liters of water per day.
